Apple is set to roll out the iOS 27 update for compatible iPhone models globally, including India, on September 14. The new software was first announced at WWDC 2026 and has been tested through developer and public beta releases over the past few months.
The iOS 27 update brings several changes to the iPhone experience, including a redesigned Siri powered by Apple’s Foundation Models and Google’s Gemini. Apple is also expanding Visual Intelligence, adding more customisation to the Liquid Glass interface, and introducing new parental control options.
iOS 27 Release Time in India
Apple has not confirmed the exact iOS 27 release time in India. However, major iOS updates have previously started rolling out at around 10am PT, which works out to approximately 10:30pm IST. The update will be available as an over-the-air software update.
Before installing iOS 27, users should back up important data and make sure their iPhone has enough battery or is connected to a charger.
How to Download iOS 27 on iPhone
To install the iOS 27 update, open Settings > General > Software Update. Wait for the update to appear and tap Download and Install. Follow the instructions on the screen and allow the iPhone to restart after installation.
iOS 27 Supported iPhones
iOS 27 is compatible with iPhone 11 and newer models, along with the second- and third-generation iPhone SE. The iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Duo come with iOS 27 pre-installed.
iOS 27 Features
The new Siri experience is one of the main additions, with support for personal context and actions across supported apps. Visual Intelligence can analyse objects, scenes and on-screen content.
Apple has also added more options for Liquid Glass, while Photos, Safari, Wallet and Shortcuts receive new Apple Intelligence features. Parental controls now include contact approvals, Ask to Buy, schedules and Time Allowances. Other changes include a redesigned Phone app and improved tab organisation in Safari.
