POCO has just added another phone to its X series, and this time the focus is clearly on battery life. The POCO X8 5G is being pitched as a battery-first mid-ranger, and after going through the spec sheet, it’s easy to see why.
The headline feature here is the 8,340mAh silicon carbon battery, which is a big jump from the 5,110mAh cell on the older POCO X7. POCO says this battery still holds onto 80 percent of its capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, so it’s not just about a bigger number on paper. It comes paired with 67W wired charging and can even reverse charge other devices at 22.5W.
On the display side, you get a 6.83 inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Powering the phone is Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, a 4nm chip that tops out at 2.4GHz. It comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Camera-wise, POCO has kept things simple with a 50MP main sensor with OIS and a 2MP depth camera at the back. It’s a step down from the X7’s triple camera setup, but POCO seems to have shifted that budget toward durability instead, since the X8 comes with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings.

Globally, the POCO X8 starts at around ₹25,400 (roughly $269) for the base 6GB+128GB variant, going up to about ₹32,980 (roughly $349) for the 12GB+256GB model. In Europe, only the 256GB versions are available, priced at approximately ₹41,200 and ₹46,350, with early bird pricing bringing that down to around ₹32,950 and ₹37,070.
For Indian buyers, there’s a nice surprise waiting. The India-bound POCO X8, launching on September 4, is set to come with an even bigger 9,000mAh battery instead of the global 8,340mAh unit. That could make it one of the most endurance-focused phones in its price segment once it lands.
All in all, the POCO X8 isn’t trying to be a flagship killer. It’s aiming at buyers who just want a phone that lasts all day without needing a mid-afternoon top-up.
