The HP HyperX Omen 16 Valorant Edition is a gaming laptop designed for players who want more than just a regular high-performance machine. Developed with Riot Games, it is the first officially licensed Valorant gaming laptop and combines game-inspired styling with powerful hardware. In India, the laptop starts at Rs. 2,24,999.
Design and Display
The HP HyperX Omen 16 Valorant Edition comes in a special Valorant Blue colour, which looks like a deep navy shade. The lid features HyperX and Valorant branding, along with subtle artwork inspired by the game. Inside, the red WASD keys add another Valorant-specific touch.
The laptop weighs 2.47kg and measures 357.5 x 269 x 27mm, so it is better suited for a desk than regular travel. The chassis feels sturdy, although the hinge has some movement when adjusting the screen.
The 16-inch IPS display has a 2.5K resolution of 2560×1600 pixels and a 240Hz refresh rate. It also offers a 2ms response time, up to 500 nits brightness and 100 percent sRGB coverage. The high refresh rate makes gaming feel smooth, particularly in competitive titles such as Valorant.
Performance and Gaming
The HP HyperX Omen 16 Valorant Edition is powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX processor, paired with 24GB DDR5 RAM, a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 graphics with 8GB GDDR7 memory.
In testing, Valorant reached around 640fps at 1080p High settings and 386fps at 2560×1440 High. The laptop also handled demanding games such as Assassin’s Creed Shadows and 007 First Light. Its cooling system includes large bottom air intakes and side and rear exhausts, with Balanced, Performance and Unleashed modes available.
Keyboard and Features
The full-size keyboard has four-zone RGB lighting, anti-ghosting and a numeric keypad. Its HyperAction feature supports an 8,000Hz polling rate, while the red WASD keys fit the Valorant theme. The laptop also includes Omen Gaming Hub, Omen AI, Windows 11 Home and a 1080p IR webcam.
Verdict
The HP HyperX Omen 16 Valorant Edition combines a distinctive Valorant design with hardware that can handle competitive and AAA gaming. The 240Hz 2.5K display, Ryzen 9 processor and RTX 5070 GPU make it a capable gaming laptop, although its 2.47kg weight, loud fans under heavy loads and average speakers are worth considering.
